Four Auto Parts That You Should Definitely Get Used

Posted on

Your car needing a new part can come with a feeling of dread. New car parts can cost more than a car payment at times. Even smaller parts can add up over the course of time. If you are still paying a car note or if you do not have a lot of extra money, you should consider getting used auto parts. Here are four auto parts that you should definitely purchase used in order to save cash on car repairs.

Window parts and accessories

If you have electronic windows, the mechanism to operate the window can go out at times. It is also possible for the window itself to become cracked and need to be replaced. If you need a new window or window operation accessories, going to an auto salvage yard to get what you need may work best. A used window or window mechanism that still works fine can save you a lot of money on something that may cost hundreds brand new.

Door handles

It is not uncommon for thieves to attempt to remove door handles or for the handles to become cracked if your car is clipped in an accident. If your door handles are broken, rusted, or need replacement, try getting used door handles from a vehicle. These are easy to take off of another vehicle and can cost pennies on the dollar if used.

Seats and seat mechanisms

If you wind up needing seats or the movable mechanisms for your seat, it can be best to find these used. Cars that have been wrecked may still have working seating. The mechanical or manual mechanisms to move the seats may also be in good condition. Used auto parts stores may have these available for a cheaper price than if you bought them brand new. Since leather seats especially can come at a high cost, it will save you money on car repairs to select used seating options.

Spare tires

Every car needs to have a spare tire. It can be better to find a full-size spare tire for your car instead of the small size spare that some cars will come equipped with. If you want a spare tire that you can actually use for a long period of time if you happen to get a flat, you should replace your donut tire with a used spare. Find a used tire that has low mileage on it and pack it into the boot of your car for safe keeping.
